Āl 'Imrān 3:3

"He has sent down upon you the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel."

Islamic Clarification

The Quran explicitly frames itself as confirming — and correcting distortions in — previous scripture, not copying it. Many Quranic narratives differ significantly from the Bible: the sacrifice narrative involves Ishmael not Isaac; Moses's story has major differences; Jesus speaks as an infant in the cradle — absent from the Bible entirely. These differences are hard to explain by plagiarism. The Prophet ﷺ was unlettered and had no access to the Bible in Arabic — the Quran's remarkable literary quality (a central Quranic miracle) argues against derivative authorship.
